Don't Tread on Me

During the revolutionary war, one of the many flags had the phrase "don't tread on me". It was a reminder of the individual rights that were being taken away by the British, and led to the conflict that gave birth to our great nation. Recently watching the film "John Adams", based on David McCullough's book on the beginning of America, it was became evident that we are experiencing a similar situation now with the spread of our own government and the taking away of individual rights. We are not fighting a foreign power, but we are in a peaceful revolution to combat those who would take away our individual rights, and create a society where the government is the provider; it stamps out initiative, degrades the individual, and will take us down a path to socialism or worse. Veterans swore an oath to uphold the constitution and defend this nation against enemies foreign and domestic. We have to speak up and be active in the political process; our mission is to defend our republic. There is a threat, and it must be stopped!
