lThe war on terror has many "fronts"! America must wake up and have a world view of the threat and understand the importance of winning in Iraq and Afganistan, keeping pressure on in Somalia, the Mid East, Africa, and South and Central America. Last but not least, we must understand the immigration threat to the security in our own country. There is no room for people in our country who don't want to be "Americans". Here is a quote from Teddy Roosevelt.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in goodfaith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Does that include one race? Should we all be white people? Does it also mean one religion? Should we all be christians?
When a person moves from New Orleans to New York, should that person be forced to speak with a northeastern accent and lose his/her southern heritage?
Those of us who are "awake in America" know that we need not fear people with differences. They contribute in the same way our non-American descendants did when they were looking for a better life.
Your argument is an indication of very insular thinking and fear mongering.
Anonymous,
You have reacted with anger, nothing was said by Teddy Roosevelt about race or religion, or accents. What he was talking about was patriotism and loyalty to one's country. That is what the Pledge is all about, if you have no allegiance to America, then you should not be living in America.
Theodore Roosevelt summed it up perfectly! It is simple, why is there even a question?! Wake up America indeed.
Ignorance is always "Anonymous"!
