Victory Not Announced

Vets for Freedom has offered the following observation - how true!

What news have you heard about Iraq since General Petraeus and Vets for Freedom were on Capitol Hill in September? If you're like most Americans, the answer is "very little." Why? I believe it is because the situation in Iraq has fundamentally changed. And while the media has always been quick to report bombings and failures in Iraq, it is simply not reporting the good news. The change is that-today-most of the news coming out of Iraq is positive. There is no doubt that real and sustainable progress is happening in Iraq. The courage of our troops, and the nature of their new counter-insurgency strategy, is paying off.

Move on - Move on.org

Can we imagine a publication calling General Eisenhower or MacArthur " betrayers"; they would have been run out of town, or put in jail for treason. Now, we have the left political wing featured by moveon .org accusing a four star general, commander of our effort in Iraq, of betraying our country. The opposition in our country to a war, that began on 9/11 when we were attacked, is without reason is based on hate for our leaders and our country. These people are the worst of America, they are aiding and encouraging our enemies; America needs to let them know we have had enough.

Veterans and Patriots -

Here are three examples of the lack of support for the troops and the effort in Iraq, which is providing encouragement to the enemy.

Senator Schumer - "The success in Anwar Province was because of the inability of our troops to protect the population......".

Senator Reid - "The war is lost"

Senator Feinstein - "There is no military solution in Iraq....."

United States Senators making stateaments like this when we our soldiers are engaged with the enemy, and fighting and dying to be victorious. These three Senators, and there are more, need to hear from their patriotic constituency, write or call them today. Talk like this during a war should carry a price the next election.

Thank You Mr. President

Vietnam Veterans understand that we are seeing history repeat itself from our war to this war. Finally the President made that connection, here is my letter to him, I hope you will do the same.

Dear President Bush,

As a Vietnam Veteran, I have been frustrated over the inability of our country to recognize the lessons of history, and the analogy of the Vietnam experience to Iraq. In my frustration I began my own website and blog for the purpose of calling Vietnam Vets to action to alert America to the dangers of going down the same road again. We need to do all we can. I am disappointed in our political leaders who fail to recognize the strategy of the enemy, and the lesson of history.

Your speech this week did that! Recently, I published portions of a letter from Senator Hatfield (He was against Vietnam) on my blog that he wrote to me as a Captain in Vietnam. He gave me all the false resonating and thinking that drove us to the wrong decision in leaving SE Asia. His letter could have been written today by many of our current senators about Iraq; it is ironic that the thinking is so similar. Again, thank you for pointing that out; I only hope people listen this time.

You have our support and encouragement to stay in the battle, there is no alternative action to winning this war.

A Veteran Speaks

A military man addresses the leaders who betrayed him frontpagemag.com ^ July 05, 2007 J.D. Pendry, Ret Sgt. Major US Army
J.D. Pendry is a retired Army Command Sergeant Major who writes for Random House. He writes:
Jimmy Carter, you're the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage. You're the runner-in-chief.

Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinsky while the terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia, and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the U.S.S. Cole and the first Trade Center Bombing and our Embassy bombings emboldened the killers Each time you failed to respond adequately they grew bolder, until 9/11.

John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam. Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact. You've accused our soldiers of terrorizing women and children in Iraq . You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, the same words you used to describe Vietnam. You're a fake. You want to run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did the Vietnamese. Iraq, like Vietnam is another war that you were for, before you were against it.

John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can't win militarily in Iraq. You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof and said we should redeploy to Okinawa. Okinawa, John? And the Democrats call you their military expert. Are you sure you didn't suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were off building your war hero resume? You're a sad, pitiable, corrupt and washed-up politician. You're not a Marine, sir You wouldn't amount to a good pimple on a real Marine's butt. You're a phony and a disgrace. Run away John.

Dick Durbin, you accused our soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis, tenders of Soviet style gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned South East Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us!! See Dick run.

Defining our Enemy in Iraq

Winston Churchill said....
"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.
The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement and the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, thescience against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome." (Sir Winston Churchill. 1899. The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50. London: Longmans, Green & Co. Emphasis added.)

Support General Petraus

Here is part of the latest effort by current veterans to support the war against terror, we all need to help by writing, calling, and telling the story of the critical importance of a victory in Iraq.

From vetsforfreedom.org

This is a call to action. We are asking every Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who believes in supporting the mission--and defeating America's enemies--to converge on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on Tuesday, July 17. It's time the fighters in this war tell their representatives--face to face-that now is no time to betray the mission.

Thanks to the Thirty

The Thirty percent of Americans, including many veterans, who support our Commander in Chief in the War on Terror should be commended. They understand the threat from terrorists, and the threat from within of the anti-war element who would launch a publicity blitz to influence the polls and drive Congress to appeasement. Thirty percent is a lot of patriotic Americans, they are true heroes.

Nevada Recall Your Senator

Senator Harry Reid has made statements that are disloyal to our military and nation. His public statements against General Petraus should cause the people of Nevada to demand he retract his statements, apoligize to the military men and women fighting the war on terror, or recall him.

A Vietnam Vet

Majority Leader Reid: Out of Touch and Undermining TroopsNEW YORK - Vets for Freedom, a pro-mission veterans group dedicated to communicating America's strategy in Iraq, professes both confusion and outrage over recent comments made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). Senator Reid arrogantly declared General Petraeus "out of touch" with what is going on in Baghdad, all the while-from the safety of Washington, DC-proclaiming his defeatist opinions, which undermine the war effort and embolden America's enemies. Three important facts color Senator Reid's absurd statement: 1) Senator Reid, the man who called General Petraeus "out of touch," voted to confirm him in January of 2007; 2) Senator Reid, the man who purports to be more "in touch" with events in Baghdad, hasn't been there since March of 2005; and 3) when Senator Reid came home from Iraq in March of 2005, he said ""I came away with the feeling we cannot leave Iraq. If we do, the terrorists will have won." "It sounds to me like Senator Reid is out of touch with himself (referring to his March, 2005 comments after visiting Iraq) and in perfect synch with left-leaning activist groups who have declared defeat in Iraq," says Pete Hegseth, Vets for Freedom Executive Director. Hegseth, an Iraq War veteran, goes on to say "While General Petraeus is busy in Baghdad doing everything possible to defeat Al Qaeda and marginalize militias in order to bring about success in Iraq, Senator Reid is hard at work doing everything he can to declare defeat and undermine American strategy. His words are the height of irresponsibility." Senator Reid made the disparaging remarks about General Petraeus during a conference call with liberal bloggers-an arena in which he surely felt comfortable sharing his true beliefs. Long professing to "support the troops" in public, Senator Reid feels very comfortable trashing them in private. It appears that Senator Reid wants the mission-as well as the troops-to fail. Vets for Freedom boasts an ever-growing network of veterans who believe in the need to defeat radical Islamist insurgents in Iraq. Below is a list of six such Vets for Freedom members who are available to discuss the Iraq war in any media forum. Please feel free to contact these combat veterans directly:

lThe war on terror has many "fronts"! America must wake up and have a world view of the threat and understand the importance of winning in Iraq and Afganistan, keeping pressure on in Somalia, the Mid East, Africa, and South and Central America. Last but not least, we must understand the immigration threat to the security in our own country. There is no room for people in our country who don't want to be "Americans". Here is a quote from Teddy Roosevelt.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in goodfaith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Monday, May 28, 2007

"Certainly the question of right or wrong of American intervention in the conflict is one which now must take a back seat to the question of how to conduct the fighting so as to reach some satisfactory conclusion for the countries involved. This is the area in which I have voiced dissent and dissatisfaction with the Administration's present policy."

This is not a letter about Iraq, it was written July 10, 1967 by Senator Hatfield to then Captain Steve Altick (Serving as a fighter pilot in Vietnam) It shows the tragic parallel in the two conflicts, and the beginning of the loss of political will to seek victory; it is happening again. Senator Hatfield goes on to say; "Our soldiers in Vietnam are involved in serious actions and in my opinion their lives are much too precious to be wasted in a conflict that is not being properly conducted. This must be halted, of course, rapidly and honorably. I shall continue to criticize those in the Administration...."
This could be written today by Senator Hagel or others who advocate appeasement and surrender. I would remind them that we left Vietnam to be overrun by the north, thousands were killed in a war that could have been one with the right tactics and political will as early as 1965.

Memorial Day 2007

General Order No 11, Washington DC, May 5, 1868 -
General John Logan designated May 30th for the "purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country"......

We honor the war dead of our great nation, we need to honor those who serve on the front lines of our war on terror. Honor them with respect for their mission and support for our President and what he is trying to accomplish on behalf of future generations. We must wake up and understand the struggle we are in.

On behalf of Veterans who have fought,
Steve Altick, Lt Col, USAF (Ret)

Sunday, May 13, 2007

We must keep in mind that going on the offense in Iraq will result in higher casualties, remember Vietnam's 57,000 casualties when you advocate coming home before the mission is done. Remember Tet 1968, a victory for us, but because of casualties began the loss of will in our nation for the mission and the victory. Wake up America!

A portion of a letter from a cadet who has it right....

I have a message for Senator Harry Reid, a message from the pastthat is heard in the wailing and groaning of our founders turning intheir graves:"Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, andthen say, 'What should be the reward of such sacrifices?' Bid us and ourposterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship, and plough, and sow,and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us thedogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude thanthe animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not yourcounsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. Mayyour chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye wereour countrymen!" - Samuel Adams

Behold a man of virtue, worthy of the office Senator Reid disgraces.

A letter that all veterans should write.

April 23, 2007

Senator Harry Reid
Majority Leader
United States Senate

Dear Senator Reid,

As a veteran and patriotic American, I resent your comments about our Commander in Chief, the President of the United States. You have modeled a lack of civility that is unparalleled in our history for someone in your responsible position. You have opted for politics at all costs, and failed in following basic rules of manners and respect. If I lived in Nevada, I would do all in my power to recall you from your position. I do not believe you represent the vast majority of Americans. Sir, you should be ashamed and apologize to the people of this great nation and to our President.

Lt Col Steve Altick (USAF/Ret)

"Let's Be Specific" (Edited Letter for Length)
Due to the thunderous applause that I received from the far-left over the "I Am Tired" letter written by one of our troops in Iraq, I thought it prudent to follow up with one last attempt to be very specific about what I have observed and actually personally encountered during my 36 years of service to this Great Country.
As a young fighter pilot, flying F-4s in Vietnam, I was stopped in my tracks by the decisions made by Lyndon Johnson and Robert McNamara. I was young and naive, but even then I knew their daily interference was wrong and would not allow us to win this thing and go home. Decisions like not allowing us to strike enemy aircraft while still on the ground, keeping real targets off the target list, and allowing us to strike only rusted-out trucks made us basically a toothpick factory. However, the big one for me came the day I saw the President Lyndon Johnson on television, forcefully lying to the American people.
Then, came everyone's favorite---Bill Clinton. If there ever was an individual 180 degrees out of sync with the ideals and the values of the US military, it was Clinton. He was a known draft dodger, military hating, self absorbed, unspeakingly shameless and immoral individual, who the Left managed to elect President of the United States of America. Clinton's antics in the White House would have brought court martial, conviction, and Dishonorable Discharge had he been a military member. We still suffer oral sex on school buses, because the President told the world it wasn't real sex, and some of our children believed him. It took a lot of years, but now I became certain
America, wake up. Giving in to the likes of these people and Abraham Lincoln's prediction of destruction from within just may come true. There is not a country in the world that can be considered a conventional military threat to the United States today. However, this country faces anew kind of threat---one that will not go away. It is a threat even moreserious that WWII, because money, industry and technology will not defeat it
Initially, I was not a George Bush fan. I am not even a Republican. I normally vote Republican, because of my total despise of Communism, Socialism and the far-left in this country. I am a Conservative. However, during his watch, I feel President Bush just happened to stumble upon the leading edge of the greatest threat this country has ever faced. Mistakes have been made, because of the newness of the threat. Overall, the President has done a superb job dealing the threat, and at the same time held off the constant ranting, raving, deceitful and malicious escapades of the far-left attempting to regain political power. IF THERE WAS EVER A TIME THE COUNTRY NEEDS TO COME TOGETHER AND BACK OUR PRESIDENT, IT IS RIGHT NOW. WITHOUT CONCENSUS WE ARE EMPOWERING THE TERRORIST!!!! The far-left is totally absorbed with the power struggle and regaining control of congress. They could care less about defeating the threat. It literally disgusts me to hear the constant disagreement with everything the President tries to do, all in the name of trying to make him look bad to the voters. Unfortunately, by the time the American people really appreciate how bad the far-left really is, it may too late.
Regardless of who is President, the people will not tolerate mass explosions on a daily basis, as our good friends in Israel have been forced to do. To protect that position of power, even Hillary will be forced to become a true hawk. To guarantee a few more votes Ted Kennedy may be forced to begin supporting a strong military. One more attack on America might even wipe the giddy,'I-am-finally-somebody' grin from Nancy Pelosi's face, and make her realize that is not about votes and personal power. IT IS ABOUT PROTECTING THIS GREAT COUNTRY FROM ALL ENEMIES, BOTH FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.
Jimmy L. Cash, Brig. Gen., USAF, Ret.

I'm Tired

"Two weeks ago, as I was starting my sixth month of duty in Iraq, I wasforced to return to the USA for surgery for an injury I sustained priorto my deployment. With luck, I'll return to Iraq to finish my tour.

I left Baghdad and a war that has every indication that we are winning, toreturn to a demoralized country much like the one I returned to in 1971after my tour in Vietnam. Maybe it's because I'll turn 60 years old injust four months, but I'm tired:I'm tired of spineless politicians, both Democrat and Republican wholack the courage, fortitude, and character to see these difficult tasksthrough.I'm tired of the hypocrisy of politicians who want to rewrite historywhen the going gets tough.I'm tired of the disingenuous clamor from those that claim they 'Supportthe Troops' by wanting them to 'Cut and Run' before victory is achieved.I'm tired of a mainstream media that can only focus on car bombs andcasualty reports because they are too afraid to leave the safety oftheir hotels to report on the courage and success our brave men andwomen are having on the battlefield.I'm tired that so many Americans think you can rebuild a dictatorshipinto a democracy over night.I'm tired that so many ignore the bravery of the Iraqi people to go tothe voting booth and freely elect a Constitution and soon a permanentParliament.I'm tired of the so called 'Elite Left' that prolongs this war by givingaid and comfort to our enemy, just as they did during the Vietnam War.I'm tired of antiwar protesters showing up at the funerals of our fallensoldiers. A family who's loved ones gave their life in a just and noblecause, only to be cruelly tormented on the funeral day by cowardlyprotesters is beyond shameful.I'm tired that my generation, the Baby Boom/Vietnam generation, who havesuch a weak backbone that they can't stomach seeing the difficult tasksthrough to victory.I'm tired that some are more concerned about the treatment of captivesthan they are the slaughter and beheading of our citizens and alli es.I'm tired that when we find mass graves it is seldom reported by thepress, but mistreat a prisoner and it is front page news.Mostly, I'm tired that the people of this great nation didn't learn fromhistory that there is no substitute for Victory.

Sincerely,Joe Repya

Never Before has the Speaker of the House Aided our Enemies

And Pelosi would probably be adverse to hang out with these guys if she knew F-18s might be approaching. Charging her with treason in the meantime would be appropriate. If the Speaker of the House during the Vietnam War had broken bread with Cambodian leaders, the public would have demanded his resignation and the most severe punishment possible for such a crime. And yet when Nancy Pelosi sits down with our enemies' collaborators, she's given a pass, even praised by those who cheer on any action that goes against the President. Al Jazerra is probably her biggest fan right now, next to the New York Times.
The problem is she's not just hurting the President, she's betraying our troops, and everyone around the world at risk to terrorist attacks, which is most of us.
We should not let her get away with it. We need to hold Pelosi responsible for her actions, as well as Syria and Iran. The three of them have more than proven their status as enemies of the United States.

What happened to unity an patriotism?

Until Nancy Pelosi came along, it was understood by all that we had only one president at a time and -- like him or not -- he alone had the Constitutional authority to speak for this country to foreign nations, especially in wartime.
All that Pelosi's trip can accomplish is to advertise American disunity to a terrorist-sponsoring nation in the Middle East while we are in a war there. That in turn can only embolden the Syrians to exploit the lack of unified resolve in Washington by stepping up their efforts to destabilize Iraq and the Middle East in general.
Members of the opposition party, whichever party that might be at a given time, knew that their role was not to intervene abroad themselves to undermine this country's foreign policy, however much they might criticize it at home.
During the Second World War, the defeated Republican presidential candidate, Wendell Wilkie, even acted as President Roosevelt's personal envoy to British Prime Minister Churchill. He understood that we were all in this together, however we might disagree among ourselves about the best course to follow.
Today, Nancy Pelosi and the Congressional Democrats are stepping in to carry out their own foreign policy and even their own military policy on troop deployment -- all the while denying that they are intruding on the president's authority.

Lets see how the Brits handle it

Today the crowds in Tehran were chanting "death to Britain", instead of America, what a change. Lets hope that the Brits will do what we didn't do when they had our hostages. Now is the opportunity for regime change in Iran, go for it Britain.

Where are the Patriots in Congress

A second dark day occurred this week when the Senate and the House (by narrow margins) sent this message to the troops; "we will not fund your mission without funding spinach and pork, and we have decided to manage the war ourselves by setting dates for the enemy to declare victory". That is the correct translation of what our congress has done. Are they so misled by the press, how are they missing the troop's stories of success in Iraq? Or is it they hate the President so much, they have suppressed what little patriotism they have or every had.
A sad day....where are the patriots?

Monday, February 19, 2007

The definition of Patriotism is interesting as defined by the Bible and Webster = Love of country, Webster adds, support, devotion to, and loyalty. Enough said about our 224 Congressman who publically aided our enemies.

A dark day for America.

Today the US Congress did a shameful act, one that lacked courage and will aid our enemies. They did it out of political hate for our Commander in Chief, and perhaps because they do not understand the lessons of history. Vietnam was a war that could have been won in 1965, but the political will to risk a wider war with China was not there, so we fought for ten years with limited objectives, and even then never lost a battle. Then the US Congress begin the move away from victory, and finally cut funding for any help when Vietnam was in its death throws. We can take a close look at Korea as well, fear of a wider war gave the enemy sanctuary, and we ended up with a split nation. However, if we look at WW II, or more recent small conflicts like Panama or Grenada we see victory because US troops walked into the enemy's turf and there were no sanctuaries. Today, we fight an enemy who has stated a desire to kill us; he will kill us when we attempt to talk, he will kill us when we sleep. America must awake! Veterans and patriots alike must sound the alarm, take action by calling to account our representatives who are advocating a sell out and defeat in Iraq and the Middle East. If we fail, our country may suffer untold damage. Americans are good people, but they have been mislead and lied to. Veterens and patriots must rise up, raise the flag high and speak out.

Veterans and Patriots step up and speak out!
